When you have too many maps lying around your house, you find yourself wanting to create some map art. Regardless of what you do with the map, it always seems to turn out lovely – especially when you pick cities that have sentimental connections.
I had the honor of creating decorations and some food for a surprise unbirthday party. I don’t think that I have ever had so many ideas for one party before.
This is what was created.
Somehow, I didn’t get pictures of all of the card garlands and pom-poms. They were hung in the room with the food and the main sitting room.
The card houses were also hot glued together to ensure a perfect card house at party time.
This skirt (forgive the bad iphone photo) once was old babydoll halter top. The old top was adorable but the halter ties were too thin which constantly caused pain.
After years of yearning to wear it, I decided that it would better serve me as a skirt. I cut off the halter top and attached a wide elastic band. With less than 2 hours of energy, I now have one amazing skirt with functional pockets.
A friend asked me to craft some decorations for an elephant themed baby shower … and this is what I came up with.
As a crafter, I always try to link to the exact place that I bought a specific template, fabric, yarn, or the name brand of a product; however, not all bloggers follow this method. After a googling and cursing websites, I went with Plan B – I traced an elephant and made my own template.
This template became the medium parade of elephants, the large parade of elephants, the small elephant mobile, the mother and baby elephant rosette, and an elephant mom to be pin.
I made these for my co-workers because everyone needs a little cheer with the cold, icky weather that we have seen recently. The tag is a printable from Eighteen 25’s blog and the marshmallows are fruit flavored. A quick and easy project for a bit of cheer.
When we came back from Florida (and Disney), I decided that I need to show our friends how much we care about them all year – not just at Christmastime or birthdays. This is just a little example of how I am showing some love to our friends this year.
The cards are from a printable at Pumpkin Petunia’s blog and the magnetic tins were bought on sale at Michael’s.
This is our container of love.
Over the next year, we are going to be putting mementos from our adventures together as a newly wed married couple into this container – movie tickets, wrist bands, silly little things. The only rule is that it has to be from what we did together. At the end of the year, we will pull everything out and remember good times & smiles. I can’t wait until New Year’s Eve to see what crazy things we put in here.
We have put in already:
- A King Cake baby from our Sweet Love Bakery cake
- Mardi Gras beads obtained at our favorite bar
- Notes from Z’s Valentine’s presents
