Our Container of Love

This is our container of love.

Over the next year, we are going to be putting mementos from our adventures together as a newly wed married couple into this container – movie tickets, wrist bands, silly little things. The only rule is that it has to be from what we did together. At the end of the year, we will pull everything out and remember good times & smiles. I can’t wait until New Year’s Eve to see what crazy things we put in here.

We have put in already:

  • A King Cake baby from our Sweet Love Bakery cake
  • Mardi Gras beads obtained at our favorite bar
  • Notes from Z’s Valentine’s presents

Crowning Glory

Some weeks, you just need to make a few lace glittery crowns to wear around the house while cleaning.

Every princess needs a crown

With the help of a photographer’s tutorial, I ended up making more crowns that I can wear at once.  I seriously thought that I had ruined the project more than a few times, but after the glitter had settled, they looked lovely.

The Bracelet Necklace

Have I mentioned that I love Pinterest?  I have the Pinterest app on my iphone and whenever I have a free minute, I log on and browse through the interesting pins from my friends.

While I was searching around for glittery birthday party decorations (I was trying to find ideas for Z and my friends for my 30th Birthday Party), I found a pin for a bracelet necklace which used an old bracelet and some ribbon.  This bracelet necklace tutorial isn’t the one that inspired me but it’s the same instructions.

When I was much, much younger, my parents bought me an ID bracelet engraved with my name and a little heart charm attached.  The bracelet had to be sized down a lot to fit my wrist, but they left me the links to get it resized as I grew.  Over the years, those links were lost.  Despite the inability to wear it, I kept the bracelet with me through college, law school, and many moves across the state.  When I saw the bracelet necklace tutorial, I knew that I had found the perfect way to wear my cherished bracelet.

Holly Jolly Christmas to My Co-workers

Although we were on a budget this holiday season, I wanted to do something special for my co-workers.  We have all worked so hard this year and everyone deserves a little something to know that they are in my thoughts this holiday season.

I found where someone had made Christmas candy grams with the phrase “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas” and jolly rancher candies — And I knew what my co-workers were getting!!

FO: Christmas Catnip Lights

Every year, I make some sort of christmas gifts for our cats and for our friends’ cats.  Last year, I made fabric birds.

I found this adorable pattern for knitted Christmas light bulbs – so I gathered up the catnip and my knitting supplies for cute presents for the cats.

FO: Cover the Five Wood!

A few years ago, I had this brilliant idea to knit a very special man in my life a golf club cover as a silly Christmas gift.  I just hope it makes him smile or laugh a little when he gets it …

FO: Hostess Tote Bag Gifts

Three 40-minute totes for three wonderful ladies

Three 40-minute totes for three wonderful ladies

My sweet mother-in-law and her friends threw me a wedding shower a few weeks ago but I had been so preoccupied with Amanda’s Bridal Shower that I completely forgot to get hostess gifts. 😦

For my birthday, Z gifted me his mother’s old sewing machine but I have been too busy, too afraid, and lacking the proper space to actually use it.  Around the time of the shower, Z got rid of a television which gave me the much-needed space for sewing projects.  I have wanted to make the 40 Minute Tote from Purl Bee ever since I saw the adorable bags.  Insert a few yards of fabric and a desire to make something wonderful for the wonderful & caring ladies that have welcomed me into their hearts.

The Arkansas Razorback Christmas Tree

When I went home for Thanksgiving, my mom showed me some ornaments that she had made from my bachelor cousins.  Yesterday, she sent me pictures of the decorated Christmas tree and I had to show them to everyone.  This is another example that I come by my crafting naturally.  Woo Pig Sooie!!
